Dependent and neglected children committed to state custody, 1947-1979.

Records, 1947-1979, documenting the status of dependent and neglected children whose custody has been transferred to the State Dept. of Public Welfare. The vast majority of records reflect the movement of child populations in the Wisconsin State Public School, which was known after 1947 as the Wisconsin Child Center (WCC) at Sparta. Records include monthly caseload statistics of children in custody by district, reports of movement of child populations in the WCC, correspondence and administrative instructions for completing forms. In some cases, the names, ages, sex and county of settlement of individual children are listed.
